Welcome to the 21 day healthy yoga series. Each yoga class will address a health concern we might face and gives insight into how yoga might help alleviate it.
This is the first of the yoga series and is designed to help you balance your hormones with yoga practice.
Yoga can help us maintain good health in many ways.
Today’s yoga class will focus on how yoga help re balance imbalances in the hormonal system.
Can Yoga can yoga help hormone balance?
Like all systems of the body the hormonal system is affected by many factors and is always in flux and changes throughout our life.
Hormonal balance is regulated by the endocrine system. Hormone Yoga therapy can address adrenal gland, hormone level, menopause, imbalanced hormones, thyroid and pituitary gland, adrenal fatigue, hormone imbalance, stress hormone, parathyroid glands and so much more. But let’s begin by noticing how you feel and remember, it is important to not over stress the body.
The endocrine system begins in your brain with the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus and the thyroid gland in your neck.
In addition the endocrine system includes the adrenal glands, the ovaries in women and testicles in men.
The endocrine system is adversely affected by stress. Breathing deeply helps slow, balance and calm the stress response.
Yoga movements in the neck stimulate and rinse the thyroid gland.
We might notice the effects of our system changing when we experience mood swings, insomnia, a lack of sex drive, hot flashes and irregular menstrual cycles just to name a few.
Sometimes a hormonal imbalance is felt as low back pain or deep abdominal pain. A regular yoga practice helps to relieve back and abdominal pain and balance our hormonal system.
Especially effective for relief of back pain and abdominal pain associated with hormonal imbalances are yoga asana or postures that involve full forward folds, poses that stretch the groin area as well as yoga hip opening and twisting.
Drinking lots of water, eating well and getting plenty of sleep will also help keep you feeling good and level while balancing you naturally on and your yoga mat.
Yoga Hormone Balance Sequence
The yoga routine in this segment is about restorative poses or asana to open you gently. No pain should be felt. It is better to back off than push in any yoga posture.
The yoga for hormone balance is about 30 min long. Each yoga pose is held for a specific length of time. Props can be added to help in the yoga class.
Some important tips to follow are to treat yourself well. This simple super yoga for hormonal imbalances exercise is only as helpful as you let it be for you each day.

These practices have had good results with the many women I have taught over the past 13 years. This recorded class can be repeated 10, 15, 50 or 100 times.
